ClubAC.com staff was sitting around and thinking about the conversations guys have about girls. And the conversations they don’t have. And the conversations they might have if they were completely honest about the feelings they had inside. So we made one up! T.J. is our single guy that is really looking forward to getting married, but isn’t quite sure about waiting. C.E. is his fictional married friend.
ULTRA-Legal Disclaimer: This conversation never happened. These people don’t exist. The names have been changed to protect the people that don’t exist that had the conversation that never happened. Did we cover all our bases?
T.J.: C.E., I am getting really impatient waiting for my future wife…I just wish I knew when I am going to meet her, maybe it would make the waiting easier. C.E.: I understand T.J., I’ve been there! All I can tell you is it isn’t time yet. I was so anxious to meet “the one” too and it sometimes seemed like it was taking forever, but now I can look back and see that the timing was perfect! Any earlier would have been too soon. T.J.: It just seems like I missed a boat, something passed me by. C.E.: It didn’t.
T.J.: That’s all you got?!
C.E.: That’s all I need! Doesn’t matter if you believe me or not, it’s still true. You know you’re my boy, I am not holding out on you. You need to trust me when I say that things happen for a reason, and God’s timing is exquisite. T.J.: It’s hard to wait, and not to settle. C.E.: Let me put it this way – DON’T! T.J., I am just imagining the girl you are going to end up marrying. She is perfect for you. Just like with my wife, I can’t believe how well we work together – mentally, emotionally – she’s my best friend. It’s crazy man, you will know exactly what I mean down the road. The other girls you dated, or tried to date, or thought about dating…it will be so clear why you didn’t end up with any of them. I can’t wait to meet her either, because I just know that she will be worth the wait. My wife was. Don’t settle T.J. – sure, you can ‘play’ now, but you’d pay later…. T.J.: I understand what you are saying, but I kind of have to take your word for it. C.E.: Dude, who are you talking to? It’s me! I want what’s best for you, you know that. I am not going to steer you wrong on this.
T.J.: So what do I do while I’m waiting?
C.E.: Chill. Use this time. Enjoy it. We can hang out, you can work on the other goals that you have, and you can work on becoming the man you need to be. You know that one day you want to be married…what kind of man do you want to be when you’re married? Start taking steps that bring you closer to being that man. Are you moving forward in developing your character? Are you becoming more patient? Are you a better friend than you were one year ago? Before you ask the question “will you marry me” – you first need to ask yourself “would I marry ME?” You’ll meet her at the perfect time – it’s a promise.
