Game Plan uses a positive, sports-themed approach to understanding the benefits of abstinence. The eight-session program helps teens understand that abstinence is the healthiest choice.
ABSTINENCE WORKBOOK In today’s society, teens are faced with incredible pressures to become sexually active. Despite these pressures, nearly all teens surveyed (93%) said that teens should be given a “strong message” that they should abstain from sex. Today, most students surveyed have never had sex, and those who had wish they hadn’t. Teens need to know about the physical and emotional risks of sexual activity outside of marriage, so that they can make good decisions that will help them in reaching their future goals and dreams. Game Plan, developed in conjunction with AC Green, uses a positive, sports-themed approach to understanding the benefits of abstinence. The eight-session program helps teens to formulate a game plan for their future and helps them to decide for themselves that abstinence is the healthiest choice. Teenagers today are looking for positive role models to help them make good decisions – especially when it comes to sexual activity. AC Green, the “Ironman” of the NBA, is noted for his record of playing in 1,192 consecutive games in his career and is recognized for his decision to remain abstinent until marriage. In Game Plan, Green shares his message with teens, encouraging them to achieve their game plan by choosing abstinence. The eight session program offers students the opportunity to consider to benefits of choosing abstinence before marriage and the consequences of sexual activity. SESSION ONE: I Got Game! To help students think about how the choices they make will affect their future, positively and negatively, and to assist students in considering their goals for the future. SESSION TWO: TV Time-Out To help students understand how they are influenced by the media and to learn how to critically analyze and view media. SESSION THREE: Rules of the Game To help students realize that setting personal boundaries and guidelines will assist them in abstaining from premarital sex and help them in achieving personal goals and avoiding negative consequences. SESSION FOUR: Avoiding the Penalties To help students understand the very serious nature and extent of sexually transmitted disease (STDs) in America today, and to help students realize that abstinence is the only 100% effective way to prevent STDs. SESSION FIVE: Half-Time To give students the opportunity to choose abstinence if they have already engaged in sexual activity. To provide information that regardless of past behavior or choices, students can still choose abstinence. SESSION SIX: Building Your Team To help students understand the importance of choosing friends wisely, and to assist students in establishing guidelines for healthy dating relationships. SESSION SEVEN: Winning the Prize The give students information on the positive benefits of marriage and help them to consider this information for themselves and for their future. SESSION EIGHT: Game Time To help students put the principles learned in Game Plan into practice by revisiting their goals and by making a concrete game plan. To help students set personal boundaries and resist peer pressure in order to accomplish their goals.

“I’ve Got The Power” is a tool for today’s youth. This six-week curriculum also includes the “It Ain’t Worth It” video.
ABSTINENCE CURRICULUM “I’ve Got The Power” is a tool for today’s youth. Powerlessness is a universal feeling among today’s youth. If our youth are taught, through abstinence-based curriculum, that they have the power to control themselves and to change their lives in the process, the result may be less promiscuity and increased personal effort to step out of the cycle. Research demonstrates the abstinence-based curriculum works (Olsen & Weed, 1987). Even school-based clinic proponent Kirby (1991) suggests that abstinence may be an effective message in the efforts to reduce teenage pregnancy. For inner city teenagers, a curriculum empowering students in a society that infers through sex education and condom distribution that they are powerless might well be the answer. “I’ve Got The Power” stresses that individuals have power over their own bodies and lives. An outline of the six-week curriculum is as follows: UNIT ONE: Power of Ownership Students will realize their self-worth and value as human beings and know that they have the power of ownership because their bodies are their primary, personal possesions. UNIT TWO: Power of Responsibility Students will understand that as boundaries exist around homes and personal property, there are also boundary lines they can set for their own bodies. UNIT THREE: Power of Purpose Students will assess their gifts, consider a career, and identify the steps they must take in order to pursue a career knowing that they are here for a purpose. UNIT FOUR: Power of Setting Boundaries Students will understand the importance of rules, which govern our lives, and realize that setting boundaries is essential in avoiding chaos. UNIT FIVE: Power of Decision Students will understand that they have the right to make decisions that affect their own bodies and realize that they have a measure of control over their lives. UNIT SIX: Power of “No” Students will support their right to say “NO.” UNIT SEVEN: Power of Persuasion Students will evaluate whether or not it is better to decide “NOT YET” or “NO MORE.”

NBA star A.C. Green sits down for a straight talk with teens about abstinence. Includes excerpts from “It Ain’t Worth It.”
Role models. Peer Pressure. Self-Discipline. NBA star A.C. Green addresses these topics and more as he sits down for a straight talk with teens about abstinence. The decisions made today will directly impact tomorrow, and A.C. talks about setting and reaching goals, as well as his stand for abstinence. Supported by excerpts from the original “It Ain’t Worth It,” A.C. reveals the truth about sex, and explains how young people can make a difference in lives – starting with their own. The A.C. Green Youth Foundation is a non-profit youth organization that strongly promotes the message of abstinence. To date there are more than 50 different sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), many of which are rampant among the youth of our nation. These diseases, coupled with the millions of unwanted pregnancies that end in an untold number of abortions each year, are symptoms of a national epidemic: sexual promiscuity. The costs of this epidemic – human suffering, loss of life, expense to society – are staggering. But there is an answer. There is one truly safe way to protect yourself against pregnancy, STDs and AIDS – by abstaining from sexual intercourse until marriage, and practicing mutual fidelity for life to an uninfected partner. The video addresses the problems that teens face today when it comes to making the right and responsible decisions regarding their sexual behavior. Pressure from peers and the media toward sexual relationships are major influences in a teenager’s decision-making process. Kids are confronted daily with the lie that “everyone is doing it.” They need someone to tell them that this simply is not true; not everyone is having sex. Unfortunately, this message may come too late for some who have already made the mistake of premarital sex. For this reason “It Ain’t Worth It: The Interview” also addresses the issue of secondary virginity. Teens who have been sexually active can choose to stop. Kids can start over. As responsible adults and role models, we need to tell our young people that even though they can’t change the past, they can go forward. They can regain their self-respect and protect their health – it is never too late to say no to premarital sex. This video is an aid to educate and enlighten young people to the so-called “safe-sex” method of protection against the HIV virus, unwanted pregnancies and other consequences of sexual promiscuity. Themes of hope, self-discipline and positive self-esteem are addressed. Our focus, however, is abstinence – the only 100% effective method of protection against pregnancy, STDs and HIV.
